Board of Directors

Edwin “Crazy Eddie” Myles – President / Founder

Edwin Myles (AKA OG Eddie), CEO and founder of IDJ Trade Association (IDJTA), is one of the youngest forefathers of Hip-Hop. In 1987, Myles founded Edwin Myles Consulting, which has serviced the sports, entertainment and nightlife industries on various levels of business.
Throughout the mid to early nineties, while promoting numerous independent and major record labels and artists, Myles developed a firm grasp on the Southern rap scene. In 2000 Myles took the opportunity to launch Zulu Nation South. By doing so, he continued enlightening a multitude about the lost fundamentals of Hip-Hop he learned from the “Godfather” of Hip-Hop/Zulu Nation Founder, DJ Afrika Bambaataa.

By 2008 Myles launched the IDJ Trade Association. (Afrika Bambaataa, The “Godfather” of Radio Herb Kent, and industry veteran TJ Chapman are a few of IDJTA‟s honorary advisory board members.) Throughout his 25 years as an entertainment industry insider he served as a catalyst in the careers of Master P, Lil Boosie, Mack 10, Lil‟ Flip, Genuine and B2K, to name a few. Today he uses his elaborate knowledge to promote and consult artists, DJs, record labels and businesses worldwide.

In 2009, Myles formed the weekly Million DJ Conference Call and IDJ Radio. Both entities have served as highly successful tools that have aided in the advancement of the entertainment industry.

Myles learned the importance of a strong work ethic from his father, who was the saxophonist for Stevie Wonder and a reputed entrepreneur and real estate investor. When most kids were playing hopscotch, Myles was kicking it with Barry Gordy and Smokey Robinson at the Motown offices, observing his father diligently working alongside legends.

A13, Myles and his family moved to the infamous Astoria Housing Projects, in Queens, NY, where he became quickly acclimated with the street life. At 13 he befriended the legendary Disco Twins, who took a liking to the charismatic kid and began mentoring Myles. (The Disco Twins still own and operate their topnotch sound systems, engineering and DJ equipment business that served as a primary outlet for many Hip-Hop legends.)

In 1973, When Afrika Bambaataa embarked on his vision to unify Hip-Hop and bring it to the masses, he tapped 16-year-old Myles. After joining forces with Bambaataa, Myles‟ detrimental ways changed. During the early „70s, when crime was
extremely rampant in NYC, Myles created the 24-Hour Zulu Nation Hotline to ensure the members were spared from harm‟s way.

During Hip-Hop‟s early stages Myles managed The New York City Break Dancers; his renowned group spread global Hip-Hop awareness when appearing in Beat Street (1984). Under Myles‟ tutelage they also performed on TV during President Ronald Reagan‟s 1985 NYC inauguration.

In 1985 he returned to his New Orleans birthplace and opened Sunny‟s Piano Café with his mother and uncle. In 1987, he co-produced the hit single “I Believe” for the New Orleans Saints when they made it to the playoffs that year, which struck platinum the week it was released.

In 1989, while reigning as the top-selling associate for Marketing, Advertising, Promotions and Sales (MAPS), he formed a strong presence with New Orleans-based businesses. Consequently, he was offered a one-hour weekly TV segment on a New Orleans cable network. He then created and executive produced the top-rated “Showtime in New Orleans,” which broadcasted the best in New Orleans lifestyle and entertainment.

In 1993, he was the assistant to former Citadel Broadcasting program director Demetrius Lloyd, while running his own Sound Scan music store in Lafayette, Louisiana. Entrepreneur and entertainer Master P is one of many artists often travelled to Lafayette, to seek heavy promotion from Myles.

By 1995, he shut the record shop down; he then began traveling the country, handling massive promotion for Priority Records and Virgin Records/Rap-A-Lot. Later in 2001, he became the Director of Retail Promotions for Sony Records. Furthermore, OG Eddie played a strong hand in the early successes of Lil‟ Boosie, Lil‟ Flip, Mack 10 and Heltah Skeltah.

Utilizing his innate leadership talent, Myles continues pursuing his endless battle to preserve the essence of Hip-Hop by teaching the core principles of KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM and UNDERSTADING that all should oblige by.

Almuhtada Smith- Entartainment Law

“The day when Almuhtada finally emerged from his retreat to begin his mission became a day of rejoicing and festivity for all. Almuhtada spoke freely and without hindrance; he preached the gospel of love and brotherhood.”  This quote derives from the book, The Voice of the Master, by Kahlil Gibran, from which his mother Wanda Hilliard chose his unique name, Almuhtada. His name means “the Convert” or one who makes change. He hopes to fulfill the meaning of his significant name in his family with his two nieces and three nephews, leaving them with an ongoing legacy.  He also wishes to fulfill this meaning throughout and beyond my community, starting out as a successful entertainment attorney.  The hardships he encountered while growing up and the lack of camaraderie in his community has fostered an extreme drive and discipline in him to overcome adversity and give back.

26-year-old Almuhtada Smith was born and raised in Passaic, NJ.  The community that raised him led to the demise of many of his peers.  His mother, Wanda Hilliard, encouraged and instilled in him the importance of education and integrity.  With her encouragement, he chose alternative roads toward success than my peers. This decision eventually led him out of the public housing units of Passaic, New Jersey. He was never boastful about his intelligence.  Conversely, he let my scholastic achievements and extracurricular activities speak for themselves. Almuhtada’s persistence, determination, and hard work ethic led him to successfully pursue higher education at Morehouse College, where many professional black men influenced him.  The men were his professors or concerned individuals in the community.  Morehouse hosted many forums regarding influential black professionals and business etiquette, all of which greatly influenced his education. Because he believes that we are products of our own communities, he actively began dedicating both my time and talents in various service projects with different elementary schools around lower-income areas of Atlanta.  In other organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., he reaches out to the youth as well as his peers regarding issues such as safe sex and unity within black communities.

Almuhtada is currently a licensed attorney in California.  He has worked closely with Londell McMillan (Michael Jackson and Prince), and a host of executives at Interscope Records.  As an entertainment attorney, Almuhtada hopes to positively impact talented potentials on whose behalf he will advocate for justice.

DJ Fathom – The U.I.M. (The Underwire Interactive Magazine)

Accomplished…is the best word to describe Fathom, who grew up in the outskirts of Philly where he was introduced to Hip Hop and Turntablism at a very young age. Being average was not an option for this you aspiring DJ, he wanted to soar above and beyond his and others expectations. Around the age of twelve, he became involved in music classes for piano and drums. Growing up in the environment he did, was a constant push for him to practice and become better at his craft. Out on his own by the age of 16, FATHOM was determined to take it to the next level. The city was full of opportunities and rich with musical roots and he quickly learned from the people around him who were a huge influence on his becoming a fully fledged music producer and engineer. One of his fondest memories was walking down City Line Avenue, with an MPC strapped to his back just to get engineering lessons at Groove Spot Recordings.

Always having a knack for drawing and animation he decided to add graphic design to his resume and decided to go full force towards the music industry. Working in all different areas of the urban music scene from running his own independent label, to artist management, production, promotion, and publicity, Fathom decided to add a few more talents to arsenal. He started working in graphic arts, branding, web-design, and networking. After a disappointing two years as marketing director for another publication, he decided to branch out on his own. This was the best thing that ever could have happened for the future of the digital world.

Eager to not waste time and to stay fresh with the fast pace music industry, he recreated his image, and re-branded himself with that came a new name and a new publication. Both were a message to his former ties! DJ Fathom (For All the Haters on my…) was born and spawned Cyber Cerebral Publishing, the first digital interactive publishing company of its kind. Enter The U.I.M. (The Underwire Interactive Magazine) the publication that started it all. Since 2004, and the formation of his publication, Fathom & his partner Truth have worked with countless people in the industry, pushing forward from the print age into the Digital Frontier as a pioneer. In 2009, The birth of yet another successful Magazine came from the creative mind of this trend setter; Tap wire Magazine.

Tap wire Magazine is a 100% digital interactive experience that is like none other! It recently made history with its release of its first ever special “Madden Episode” in conjunction with EA Sports. This broke barriers and pushed and reshaped the boundaries of urban media and music journalism. Stay tuned for more innovation.
